I have a serious obsession with celebrity gossip. I hit up all the sites on a daily basis.... I started reading theskinny website recently and oh wow....not good for the self esteem. Just looking at the pictures is okay, however, once you delve into the comments, you easily feel 'less than'....or 'more than' in my case...ugh
This is a website where Kelly Clarkson is considered morbidly obese. Granted, Kelly has gained weight recently, I feel she is far from obese. Instead, she looks like the average american/canadian woman.
As feminist and conscious of media persuasion that I am, I can't say I left that website unscathed, and I will likely return to see if Jennifer Love Hewitt can keep the weight off her thighs and ass (ugh!).
After visiting this site, and really just living my everyday life and being exposed to media...I've come to long for many physical features that I do not possess. Ideally, I'd be rockin' this bod:

How miserable would I have to be to get that bod, i.e how many sweets would I have to cut out, and for how long?? In all seriousness, she's beautiful! Totally beautiful, but not at all representative of society. Why am I, and millions of others, so consumed with trying to achieve her body, when we should be accepting our own? Why are the ideal female body shapes becoming smaller and smaller as society progresses? Meanwhile, as a capitalist society, it is becoming harder and harder to avoid processed foods, and easier and easier to avoid exercise.....
In my own battle of the bulge...I aspire to make it less about Miranda Kerr, and more about feeling healthy and confident in my own skin...Stay tuned!
