Survey says...

Quick survey

What's your favourite make up look?
hmmm...i guess it really depends on the days. I wear natural looks and more dramatic looks, depending on how much time I have to get ready...I love a smokey eye with greys and pinks. I love nudish lips, and pink lips. Peach blush with bronzer is also very pretty.... This question is kind of like asking a diabetic, what kind of candy the like best...all of them...ha

Do you have a beauty vice?
Prepare yourselves....from time to time, I don't wash my face before I go to bed....yicks...I get tired people!

What part of your body do you love?
I love my green eyes. I love the colour of them essentially. I also love my lips...they are quite full!

Who is your beauty icon?
Not one person, but many. My 84 year old grandmother is far more trendy than I could ever hope to be when i'm her age. I love Jackie O's classic style, from the sunglasses to the clean lines. I love the simplicity of Kate Moss, Lindsay Lohan, and Nicole Ritchie...I have friends who also inspire me fashion wise...

What beauty product makes you feel instantly sexy?
Definitely foundation. I feel blah without it. I also love lipgloss and eye liner.

How do you look after your skin?
I try my very best to remove my makeup at the end of the day. I cleanse, tone, and then moisturize nightly and in the am, I rinse with warm water and moisturize.

What is your signature scent?

I love Light Blue by Dolce and Gabanna

What are your hair care secrets?
I'm not that great with hair, so I'd hardly call these secrets, but I only ever put conditioner on the ends of my hair (very oily scalp). I don't use drug store brand shampoos...I really do find that higher quality shampoos and conditioners feel lighter on my hair. Also, I don't use shampoos with glycerin in it..ie pantene as it weighs down hair and makes it oily.

How do you pamper yourself?

I indulge almost too frequently. I tend to over spend, over shop, and over consume. Essentially, if I feel like I need or want something and I have the means at the time, I will get it for myself. This, to me, is my form of pampering. Restraint is not in my dictionary...yet

What is your beauty pet peeve?
When people forget to blend (you know what I mean)....when people wear heavy eyeliner everyday...that makeup can be soooo expensive

What would your desert island must haves be?

A friend, my dog, some food, drinks, sun screen....

Makeup would likely be the last thing on my mind

Finally, do you have a beauty philosophy?
Don't be afraid of trying anything....it washes off...
Don't let anyone tell you that you can't pull a look off...
Always do your makeup in good lighting...there is nothing worse than getting into daylight and realizing you need to tone it down asap.

Thoughts that I ponder regularly...

I have a serious obsession with celebrity gossip. I hit up all the sites on a daily basis.... I started reading theskinny website recently and oh wow....not good for the self esteem. Just looking at the pictures is okay, however, once you delve into the comments, you easily feel 'less than'....or 'more than' in my case...ugh

This is a website where Kelly Clarkson is considered morbidly obese. Granted, Kelly has gained weight recently, I feel she is far from obese. Instead, she looks like the average american/canadian woman.

As feminist and conscious of media persuasion that I am, I can't say I left that website unscathed, and I will likely return to see if Jennifer Love Hewitt can keep the weight off her thighs and ass (ugh!).

After visiting this site, and really just living my everyday life and being exposed to media...I've come to long for many physical features that I do not possess. Ideally, I'd be rockin' this bod:

How miserable would I have to be to get that bod, i.e how many sweets would I have to cut out, and for how long?? In all seriousness, she's beautiful! Totally beautiful, but not at all representative of society. Why am I, and millions of others, so consumed with trying to achieve her body, when we should be accepting our own? Why are the ideal female body shapes becoming smaller and smaller as society progresses? Meanwhile, as a capitalist society, it is becoming harder and harder to avoid processed foods, and easier and easier to avoid exercise.....

In my own battle of the bulge...I aspire to make it less about Miranda Kerr, and more about feeling healthy and confident in my own skin...Stay tuned!

In and Out - ignorance is bliss

In

vacation (i've been on mine for 3 weeks!!)
beach days
minimal makeup
bright nail polish like banana bandana on your fingers and toes
bright highlights (getting mine touched up this week)
florabundance lipstick...so pretty
sugaring

Out

work... I go back in 2 days =(
sweating your makeup off in the summer heat...yuck
tanning beds (did you read the recent report)
shaving
rimmed black eyeliner on both your upper and lower lash-lines...

So...I'm going to confess. I'm a tanning bed user =S
I mostly use them before the summer months to get a base all over. My skin tone is very pale and it takes a while for me to get any colour. Therefore, I tan throughout all of May and June in tanning beds. I've always downplayed warnings and concerns about tanning, however, with the recent report coming out of the UK that tanning beds are as likely to cause cancer as arsenic, I can no longer remain ignorant. Tanning beds are officially out, and I'm on the search for a something that will give me colour in the colder months (there are a lot of them in Canada by the way).

So off to youtube I go to look at reviews for fake tanners, bronzer...etc

Any recommendations?
